The name of the Aquarius Era first came into the public consciousness thanks to one of the songs of the famous film musical Hair about the 1960s, in which these words are spoken:
When the moon is in the seventh house
and Jupiter aligns with Mars
then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius,
the age of Aquarius,
Aquarius, Aquarius
Harmony and understanding,
sympathy and trust abounding
no more falsehoods or delusions,
golden living dreams of visions,
mystic crystal revelation
and the mind´s true liberation

Astrological eras
From astrology, one can learn about the phenomenon of precession, the fact that our planet, in its journey around the Sun, simultaneously spins like a bittern around its axis. Due to its irregular shape and the gravitational influence of the Sun and the Moon, the Earth's axis of rotation is not perpendicular to the ecliptic, i.e. the plane of rotation around the Sun, but the north pole of our planet is inclined to it by approximately 23.5 degrees and, as a result, „draws” a circle against the background of the stars. It takes about 26,000 years for this circle to be drawn and this cycle, called the Platonic year, is divided into 12 parts, according to the traditional division of the heavens into the signs of the zodiac. These parts are called the so-called eras, or astrological epochs. The direction of rotation of the Earth's axis is opposite to the natural direction of the signs of the zodiac, so from about 2000 BC to the year 0 - the Bull Era lasted, since the time of Christ we have been in the Age of Pisces, and for the next 2000 years or so we will be in the Age of Aquarius. Why is this so important? After all, many people go through life not knowing or caring what is going on high above their head.
The astrological eras, according to the messages and teachings of the Masters, are primarily significant as stages in the history of the spiritual development of our planet and the human race that inhabits it. We were born at the turn of two epochs and the change of astrological conditions for the entire planet will have consequences not only for later generations, but also for us here and now. Every person on Earth will be subject to this change and will have a part in it. OK, so what will this change consist of?
The Fish Age was dominated by hierarchy and power.
The key phrase for this era was the one from William Shakespeare's Hamlet, „to be or not to be.” So to live a successful and happy life, one had to find the answer to this question. The key to the astrological sign of Pisces was „I believe”. In the Age of Pisces, in order to be able to „be”, you had to find someone or something to believe in. Once you found that something to believe in, you connected to it and were guided by it. It could have been a religion, a political ideology, a spiritual leader, a charismatic leader, a job, etc. The keys to life were hidden and secret, found in places of power and in monasteries or ashrams. But you didn't need to know these secrets, you just needed to follow the guides, the leaders and the leaders who had and knew them. The result was a vertical hierarchy of organisation of society, which was the principle of functioning in this period. All this has been the foundation of human consciousness for the last 2000 years. Everything we have learned from our parents, and they from their parents, goes back 2,000 years and has been coloured by the values of the Fish Era.
And now all that is changing.
The Age of Aquarius will be dominated by information and information networks.
The key phrase for this period is „to be, in order to be.” The key phrase for the astrological sign of Aquarius is „know.” For this is the age of information. Nothing is now and can no longer be a mystery. All information is available at your fingertips, just click „Enter”. If in the Age of Pisces we had a vertical hierarchical structure of society, the Age of Aquarius is organised horizontally, opening up the world to true equality. In this period, the focus will not be on individual identity and existence („to be or not to be”), but on fully accepting oneself as one is („to be in order to be”), without having to believe in something outside oneself. On being ready to accept that you have knowledge and wisdom within you. It is now no longer necessary, as it was in the Age of Fish, to join with something or someone outside yourself, but to become a leader for yourself. Instead of being one of the wagons being pulled by a locomotive, you yourself become your own locomotive. Your job is to stay on the tracks and keep the direction forward! From this perspective, it is easier to understand what has been happening in the world recently.
This is because in the last 50 years we have been in a so-called transition period between the Age of Aquarius and the Age of Fish. On an inner level, since 1960, there has been a huge movement towards personal transformation: self-awareness, self-improvement, yoga, meditation, tai chi, alternative healing methods, natural foods, etc. There has also been a significant quantitative increase in cases of depression, suicide, anxiety behaviour, stress and drug abuse, both in the form of pharmaceuticals and strictly drugs. In the outside world, we have seen incredible changes in the areas of civil rights, environmental awareness, women's rights, gay rights, global awareness, etc. On the other hand, there has also been an increase in fundamentalism, terrorism, nationalism, racism, xenophobia (fear of the „other”), and a general tendency to sow fear.
This change in which we are now participating will bring both the best and the worst to humanity.
Because some of us are consciously preparing for this change, opening our hearts and minds, adapting to the new era, but most are afraid of changes they don't understand and want to return to the „golden period” of the past, or want to be constantly hooked up to another locomotive, to find others like them to follow.
Transformation, however, is never a painless process.
When we fast or use techniques that cleanse the physical body, we always feel worse at first because that is when the toxins start coming out of the body. Once we have cleansed ourselves of the poisons, only then can we feel lighter and have more energy. And now imagine that every person on Earth is currently in the midst of such a transformation. We are entering a time of radical change. It is a time of great potential for growth and expansion, but it is also a time of potentially great pain and suffering. The more aware we are of these changes, of what is happening, the easier we can go through all the changes without losing our balance and stability.
All right, but what can I do, to make this transition into a new era easier for me ?
- Maintain a daily spiritual practice. All spiritual traditions emphasise the same common element: your own daily practice. This can be many different things: yoga, meditation, chanting, prayers, contemplation, exercise, even journal writing, etc. It's not really important what you do, but that you do it almost every day, and you do it with the intention of self-development, letting go and changing your patterns and focusing your consciousness in the process. e.g. Kundalini yoga and meditation are some of the most powerful tools, but each of us has to find our own path and complete a box with our own tools.
- Don't give in to the emotions of fear, despair or anger. There are so many things going on right now that can trigger these emotions: the media, the environment, politicians, terrorism, etc. If you understand that these emotions are symptoms of the transition to the Age of Aquarius, then you can more easily move through these situations without losing consciousness.
- Don't be a victim. You have the full power to change your life. Don't give that power away to someone else by criticising others, blaming others or comparing yourself to others. You are responsible for yourself, your life and your happiness. Whether or not your life works out is your own responsibility and that is 100%. The Age of Aquarius is about your inner strength and self-awareness.
- Be a source of light. The more people, the more of us consciously choose to embrace the changes accompanying the transition to the Age of Aquarius, the easier this transition will be for humanity. If even a small percentage of people change their consciousness, it can affect the rest of humanity, this is a known spiritual truth. And if you are reading this, you are most likely one such pioneer. Find your way to share this light of consciousness: by teaching others, healing or curing, social networking, serving others, sacrificing, loving.
