Why we do yoga practice every day

Why do we do a daily yoga practice and why is it best for 40 days?

Once we decide on a particular practice, we can do it for as long as we feel the need.

According to yogic knowledge, for lasting effects of the practice, it is performed in cycles of 40, 90, 120 days or for 1000 days.

To master the effects of Kriya, meditation, is practised as sadhna, a daily morning discipline. This develops life-promoting habits.

Habit controls us so much that it is said that by changing our habits we can actually change our destiny.

According to the teachings of yoga, the human mind works in cycles. We can use different cycles to help replace unwanted behavioural patterns (mental or emotional habits) with new, more positive ones. A specific amount of time is dedicated to practising a particular meditation or kriya.

* 40 days to change a habit
* 90 days to confirm a new habit
* 120 days a new habit is who you are
* 1000 days mastering a new habit
